Game Jam

This year our year was able to choose between a weekend GameJam or to continue with a game development project, so some of us chose a weejend blitz of the gamejam. This consisted of teams of fours joining together to create an educational language game. I was placed within a group that had two business and language students in 3rd year on City Campus in TUD, and another CDM student in my year.

Within the meeting on the first day we created a team Logo, given our team name, Cobra.

After creating our fab logo, we set off to discuss ideas on a game, we thought of a supermarket game, a hangman game and then a simple quiz style game. Some difficulties we ran into was the availability of some members and the skills that some of us had in creating a Unity based game, the language students didnt have design skills, so we decided on a trivia quiz style called "The Spanish Quiz', which they supplied us with the questions and answers in the language. While myself and the other team member worked on the layout and creation of the quiz.

Overall apart from being quite stressful with the communication from some members it was a good experience to do. It get the team thinking of quick games and ideas and improves on teamwork skills, along with getting to know other people too.

  1. Hi Aaron
first off amazing team logo. The game you made sounds really interesting might need to touch up on some of my Spanish can only remember hello and how to say my name. Bit unfortunate you had difficulty with the communication aspect of the game jam but you got there in the end.
