Game Elements

What exactly are the elements when it comes to a game? Well with the little read of a few sources including What are the qualities of games they've helped piece together some clarification on that. There are a few main elements within a game range to take note on which are.
  • players
  • Rules
  • Goals
  • Sequencing
Theres many more that can be listed but can't have the list go on too long. Once the elements are compiled they are then critically analised, not just critised in a good or bad way but each one is in depth looked at. The creators look for room for improvement on their elements and how to improve the gameplay for the players. Prototyping is very important in game making.

Next onto prototyping and why it is important?
There are a few aspects to look at when setting up a prototype for your game.
  • The user interface and how it feels
  • Main aim for the player
  • What other ways are there to play the game
Prototyping is basically creating a model for your game after the development stage and before the release stage, making sure it is suitable and bug free, digitally this would be a Beta stage but you can have physical prototypes also, like in How to prototype your game for PingPong theyve used actual resources for an example of this and looked at the ways it can be played.
